Pucará, and all that it encompasses, is the realized dream of Katihuska and Lionel Bergmetti, an Ecuadorian Swiss family. They imagined sharing and teaching in both the local community and with travelers in this special Ecuadorian region Pucará. They nurtured this dream for years as they gathered their resources. Four years ago, they embarked on the adventure of opening their unique rural Spanish School and Bed & Breakfast.
Katihuska, a native of Quito, Ecuador, is the director of Pucará Spanish School, and also the lead teacher. Spanish is her native tongue and she is also fluent in French and English. She specializes in teaching immersion Spanish and in Literature. Katihuska has more than 15 years of experience teaching adults of all ages. Her resume includes several years teaching in Quito at local colleges and institutions offering Spanish as a foreign language. Most recently, Katty worked in Switzerland at the prestigious Swiss Hotel and Resort Management School, Glion.
Lionel is the Administrator of Pucará Bed & Breakfast. From Switzerland, he studied Business Management for many years. Lionel worked for several seasons as a volunteer in the Sol de Primavera organization in Quito, working with troubled youth in the city, educating them in health and nutrition, and sharing vital life skills for a successful future.
